Before we get started with the course, I wanted to go over a couple of settings that I use during my design process that may be helpful for you as well. These settings are found under the view tab in the Appearance panel. Here you can find things like shadow, reflections, and ground planes, and the two I want to focus on are the shadows and orthographic projection. I found that this model on the screen could be a little clearer, and shadows help do that. Based on the graphics card you have, you could choose to turn All Shadows, but what I found is in certain cases the most benefit you get is by leaving just the Ambient Shadows on.
It adds a little more depth to the model and lets you see how things interact a little more clearly. The other option is Orthographic or Perspective view. I prefer to use Perspective view. Again, it adds another level of depth to the model that adds a level of realism that helps with design. Whether these are turned on or not does not affect the design. It's completely a personal preference. I just wanted to make sure everybody understood the settings that I have turned on and why I use them.
