Video: Deleting comments

In addition to actually adding comments and adding Likes to your photographs in Instagram or other people's photographs for that matter, you can also remove comments as well. So let's say you posted a comment to someone's photo and maybe you had a grammar error, you want to delete it, so you can repost it or maybe you actually have somebody who has posted something that's obscene or inflammatory on your profile and you want to get rid of that. Well, it's actually pretty easy to do that, and so I'm going to show you how to do that in this movie. So here is a photo that I have commented on, and I'm just going to go into the comments by tapping Comment. And then if I want to remove the comment, I can just swipe across the comment like so, and I can hit the little Trashcan icon, and then confirm the deletion right there.

It removes that comment and if I go back, you can see the comment is now gone. If I navigate back to my profile, and let's look at some of the photos that I have here. If I want to remove one of the comments from this, I can tap the Comment button, and I can just swipe across any comment I want to remove, and I can then tap the Trashcan icon next to that. And it will say here that I can report a comment for spam or obscenity. So, if this was inflammatory or in any way obscene, I could delete and report for abuse or I could simply delete it.

If I don't want to remove this comment, I can also tap Cancel and it comes right back out like that. So, you have the ability to report other people's comments, probably wouldn't want to report your own comments as being obscene or inflammatory, hopefully you're not doing that to other people. But, in any case, if someone is posting things that you don't like on your Instagram profile, that is how you remove it. Now in addition to doing that on a device, you can also do that on the Web interface as well. So let's say I've navigated to a photo like I have here. If I wish to remove a comment like this one here, I can just simply click the X in the top-right.

And once I do that, the comment is removed. Same thing holds true for this one here that I've posted. If I want to remove that, I just tap right there, and delete that. So that little X is the best way to delete that from the Web as well. So, any time that you want to remove a comment, you have the option to do that either from the mobile device itself or from the website. It's totally up to you. But remember, that when you're dealing with social networks like this, censorship of other people's comments can be met with a bit of a backlash. So you want to be careful when you do that. But certainly, if someone is posting something that you find to be offensive, go ahead and remove that anytime you want, and feel free to report it as obscene as well.

Hopefully, by now, you have a better understanding of how to navigate to the comments on your photos, and other people's photos and also, how to remove them if the need should arise.
