Using practical, real-world examples, instructor and designer Nigel French dissects the anatomy of a typeface and defines the vocabulary of typography. The course moves from the micro to the macro level, addressing issues such as choosing page size, determining the size of margins, adjusting number columns, and achieving a clean look with baseline grids. This course takes you from laying out a page to delving into the hows and whys of typography.
Welcome to InDesign Typography. I'm Nigel French. Typography underpins everything we create in InDesign. This course focuses on InDesign's type related features. It's a balance of principles, many of which predate InDesign, and specifics; how to put these principles into practice using InDesign. We will be looking at typography on a macro level, for example, setting up pages, and working with styles, and on a micro level, dealing with the small but important details of how to set dashes, ligatures, special characters, and different spacing widths.
The content is appropriate for beginning InDesign users, as well as for experienced users wanting a refresher on type. Join me now and let's get started with InDesign Typography.
