Using textures in Illustrator

- I love vector artwork but I'll admit, it can easily come off as too clean and too perfect at times. So it's an ideal format to benefit from the use of textures in order to push it away from a sterile look and feel. Let me take you through a project I created in Illustrator where I use place textures to improve the overall visual aesthetic of my design. Not all vector artwork inside Illustrator is going to need textures. There are certain types of projects that you never, in my opinion, want to use textures on. One of them would be branding, projects for logos or icons. Not to say that either of those two can't have aspects that are texturized, but it would be a secondary graphic, not the primary mark so... But in this case, the context of this project I think could really benefit from the use of textures. This was a book cover design and the theme of this book is all about kingdom rule and those who serve under them and then the problems that come up during that. So the duality…
