Starting the sidewalk in the foreground
The sidewalk that we see in the foreground of the painting shows a bunch of little stone bricks. Now these bricks are slightly rectangular, almost square. Here they look rectangular because we're looking at them at an extreme angle. But they're just these bunch of little bricks that are staggered in a standard brick pattern that make up the sidewalk. Now, as you go across the sidewalk you start to see that they're following the perspective like everything else. They're just going along and you also see the wear and tear of years and years of people walking and riding their bikes on these little things. So it starts to show a little wear and tear after a while. So let's see how these guys were created. Basically they started in Illustrator. Now what I do here is, I start to create a basic shape. I'm going to create one basic shape, right here, which is going to be the actual angle of my sidewalk. There it is. 'Cause it does have a little bit of an angle to it, right? So I'm going to…
