Illustrator has a feature called blends, which basically allows you to take two objects and morph them into each other. Now in reality, blends predate gradients. It's been around for a very long time. Before we had gradients, we actually were able to have colors blend into each other using blends. But now that we have gradients, there is still a tremendous amount of use for blends inside of Illustrator. For example, you could use blends to create photo realistic shading effects or you can even use them to create animations inside of Illustrator. Well, there is a lot of hidden power inside the blends and in this chapter we are going to find all that power.
