Creating a flagpole in Illustrator

Now, there's one element that's throughout many of the buildings in the Amsterdam scene and that is flagpoles. Some have the flags all wrapped up, others have the flag just hanging. In some cases, the flagpole might be a little ornate, like this one here. This is the first building on the left that you see the flagpole right there. It's got multi-colors to it. It's got these little red, white and blue stripes. That's what I'm going to show you how to create now. Now, one thing to keep in mind right here, as you can see, is sometime helps to know how much of something is going to be visible, to know how much detail you need to put into it. Because early on, I realized that I was putting so much work into certain parts and then once the trees were put in. They were completely obliterated. So, it's good to plan these things way ahead, and sometimes create the things are going to obstruct views before anything else. But here, we see the flagpole.
