Creating a color palette
Here is the finished piece. And here is where we are beginning. In this starting document, I have two layers. Layer1 has the text, and Layer2, which I've called Source, has some pieces of vector artwork. An image of the Karlsplatz metro station in Vienna and this piece of artwork by Koloman Moser from 1897, he being one of the leading figures of the Vienna secession. Now, I'm using this to build a color palate, so what I'm going to do with it is trace it. So, I'm going to select it, come to my Tool options and click on Image Trace. My first result will be black and white. I'm now going to come to my Tracing panel and I'm going to just turn off my preview for a moment while I set these options. I'll change the mode to Color and the number of colors to 12. I'll now turn back on my preview. And we will shortly see the result. Now, if you're using a different image, you probably will need to vary the number of colors. But for my purposes, I think 12 is going to be more than enough. I'm…
