- Textures are a great way to infuse a design with a realistic and authentic flair of distress that can give a visual image a lot more character then what stark, clean vectors provide. So let me show you how I took a vector design I created in Illustrator and turned it into a compelling, texturized mosaic. The texture I want to go over in this movie is all about creating an illusion. All about taking real world texture and using it in such a way that it makes it look like something that it isn't. It isn't just about adding little organic flair to something it's about making it look like what the real thing is, in this case, a mosaic. Now, the original photograph, this is, actually let me show you it in color, this is it in color.
