Adding a lighting effect

For some added drama, I'm going to finish off in Photoshop by adding a lighting effect and some grain. I want to do this on a layer above my existing layers. I'm going to start out by stamping all of my content into a single layer. But at the same time, I want to retain the current layers. So to do this, I can either use the keyboard shortcut Cmd+Option+Shift+E or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E, or I can hold down the Option or Alt key and making sure I'm at the top of my layer stack, come to the Layers panel and choose Merge Physical. And we see that that stamps everything onto a single layer while retaining all of your existing layers. I'm now going to convert this layer to a smart object. I'll do that by right-clicking, and choosing Convert to Smart Object. This will allow me to apply my filters non-destructively. I'll come to the Filter menu > Render > Lighting Effects. So now, I want to have a spotlight, and I need to change its position. So let's just rotate it. Let's move it over the center,…
