This course is a collection of short Photoshop and Illustrator projects and creative effects that can be completed in ten minutes or less. The series is taught by computer graphics guru Deke McClelland, and presented in his signature step-by-step style. The intent is to reveal how various Photoshop and Illustrator features can be combined and leveraged in real-world examples so that they can be applied to creative projects right away.
So the idea here is I wanted to take something just dull and prosaic and turn it into something extraordinary. So you see this car here. It's not a Gremlin; it's some kind of Yugo. It's actually a Serbian car that never made its way into the United States, and it's actually a stock image from the Fotolia Image Library, as are all the images we'll be using. And you can learn more about them, get discounts, at fotolia.com/deke. But really, in a way, you have to wonder why this image even exists.
It's not a deluxe beautiful car. We've got this low-angle shot of it nonetheless. And the image is riddled with chromatic aberrations. The sky is completely blown. And that's actually the appeal of this photograph to me. It's just such a mess. It's in such need of help. And to quote Oscar Wilde, a subject that is beautiful in itself gives no suggestion to the artist. It lacks imperfection. Happily, this image is just riddled with imperfection.
