Video: Utilizing the +1 button

So one of the last ways that you can get your Google+ business page more visibility is using the +1 button. This is true social media in action, it's the recommendations component. Going back to the Get Started tab, we have started the conversation, we have connected our website, we have told the world we can build out circles. Inside the +1 button is something that you can add to your website, so that users can recommend your content on Google Search, as well as share it on Google+. I want to go ahead and hit Learn More just to dive into this a little further.

The +1 button is all about recommendations. What we have looked at before it is just a Google+ icon just to share with people that you have a Google+ page for your organization. The +1 is all about recommendations, it really gets the conversations going. Here's an example. On the No Obstacles Sport blog, at the bottom of the Post, we have the +1 icon. I can publicly recommend this as Jaryl Leonard, that's me logged into my account, and that icon allows me to share this blog with other people, it's pretty cool and actually it's linking specifically to the page.

So there we go. And I can share that with my Contacts at No Obstacles. I can add more people, let me go ahead and hit Share, and there we go, and now it shows that +1 did this. So you may be wondering how do I get the +1 icon. You can add it to a number of places, you can add it within each individual blog post, and to your website. What you can do as you can go to http ://www.google.com/+1/button, and I just go ahead and I hit Get the code on this page here, and it takes me to Webmaster tools.

It allows me to customize my button and get my snippet, as they like to call it, and I can get a really small one, I can get a standard one, I can get a medium one, the annotation, if I want to have nothing, but the icon here, I could do that, I can make it in a bubble, if I wanted to do that. I am going to go ahead and just do None and just go right for the icon and then you go ahead and you copy this code, and you can customize it if you wanted to have a description of the content that folks were sharing.

This is more advanced for some of you that may be looking to make it more niche targeted to your organization. I am going to go a head and just copy all of this. And then what you would do is you would either email it to you Webmaster, or what you can do is if you are your own webmaster, or you are savvy with HTML code, which is the Hypertext Markup Language code here, then you can go ahead and add this to your site. That's how it works, it is really that simple to help people recommend your content, and there is one other way to get to this, if you have an Analytics Account, you can also get to this here. Right now I'm under the Administration settings in Google Analytics.

And right here on the left-hand side it says Add +1 to your site, and that takes me to the Google Developers Platform, and so you can always do a Google Search for the Google Developers Site, and you can also search for get the +1 button, but if for some reason you are in Analytics, and you have that for your organization, it'll remind you to do the +1 button there. So just wanted to point that out as well, that you have the option not just through the Google+ interface, but also in Google Analytics, which I'm logged into right now.

So now that you have a better handle of Management Options for your Google+ business page, let's look at ways to optimize your profile even more.
