In this course, author Lorrie Thomas Ross teaches you how to use Google+ to effectively promote a business. Discover how to set up an account for a business or client, and add company information, post photos and video, create compelling copy to market products or services, and improve your reach with contacts. Find smart ways to leverage the power of Google+ circles, blogging, and video sharing to make a real and lasting connection with an audience. This course also shows you ways to improve market visibility and open an online dialogue about your business.
We looked at hangouts in a previous chapter, now I want to reiterate that video is one of the most compelling ways that we can use Google+ as a marketing tool. And as I shared in a previous course I did for lynda.com called Online Marketing Fundamentals, I clarified the true meaning of marketing, and the true meaning of marketing is maximizing relationships. And video chat is as close as we can get to live when we are on the World Wide Web, and there's video options when we are using the Google+ page. Of course, like we looked at earlier we can go ahead and post videos.
But what I also want to talk about is using hangouts or video chats strategically as a way to brand, to build, and to boost business. And hangouts give you the option to be available live to the people in your circles when they're online allowing you to have real-time conversations. And some of you may use your Google+ Hangouts to chat with employees or with customers. But what it will let you think about is ways to maybe schedule your chats. So what I'm going to do here is go to About, and let's say you want to have a weekly chat or weekly hangout.
What you can include here is you can say, We host weekly Google+ hangouts to answer questions every Wednesday at 11am-- let's do Central Standard Time. So I'm going to go ahead and hit Save, and so now we have that here. So that's an option that you can go ahead and do, and if you're going to be available for hangouts also what you can do is promote it here.
So what you can say is and so you can post things like this, and you can post it to the folks following you, you can post it specifically to circles, or you can make it public, and whatever you want to do. I'm going to go ahead and make it specific to the circles, and you can go ahead and share things, you can share things the day before, the week before, 10 minutes before just a few ideas for you as well. And what you can also do is if you want to start a hangout is you can also enable these hangouts to be recorded, and you can broadcast them live and record them as YouTube videos. So here I'm waving at you hello, hello.
And so if I wanted to save this for anywhere what I can do is go through the verification process and set up my Google+ page strategically so that I'm using video chat, and I'm recording some of the live hangouts on YouTube. So what's happening is I'm hosting them, and I can start storing them on my YouTube page, and I can also start to post them here as videos. So just some strategic ideas that you can use to talk about things on your About page, encourage interaction, and keep the conversation alive on your Google+ page.
