Video: Sharing on the web

So we have looked at ways to connect your website and your Google+ page, and next what we want to do is take it one step further and share it on the web. To share your Google+ page on the web, go back to the Get Started page, so I'm going to go ahead and switch to this page, and I'm going to go to the Get Started tab, and it's time to tell the world. So here is the link to the page, and I'm going to go ahead and copy that, and you're going to want a add a link to this everywhere you communicate online, on your Facebook page, Twitter, your blog, your email, newsletter, and more.

Sharing on the web

So we have looked at ways to connect your website and your Google+ page, and next what we want to do is take it one step further and share it on the web. To share your Google+ page on the web, go back to the Get Started page, so I'm going to go ahead and switch to this page, and I'm going to go to the Get Started tab, and it's time to tell the world. So here is the link to the page, and I'm going to go ahead and copy that, and you're going to want a add a link to this everywhere you communicate online, on your Facebook page, Twitter, your blog, your email, newsletter, and more.

So right now, we have the No Obstacles Sport website, and you see that we have the Google icon here. We are actually going go ahead and update this later on in the course, so we'll show you the before and after. We're going to add a little plus icon, so it's more best practice, and we have Twitter, we have Facebook, we also have the blog, we are linking to that here, so I'm going to ahead and click that to show you what that looks like. And what we're also going to do later on in the course is optimize even further by adding the icons, so there's more visual queues for that as well.

But what we're going to do is share this on the web. We have the blog here, we'll start with that. I have an easy blog post right here that I put together, and it's written in conversational tone. Greetings! We are excited to share that No Obstacles Sport has a new "plus"; Google+ that is! I'm talking about the new Google+ page, I created the hyperlink here, so what I did was I copied that, and I hit this little icon in the blog tool that says Link, and it has a little picture here as well, that's what it looks like, so people will look for that queue, and we invite people to follow the page.

I also talk about the value that someone is going to get just like someone doesn't need another email in their already overflowing email inbox. When it comes to social media, in Google+ in particular, it's helpful to share the value of what your content is going to entail. A No Obstacles Sports content is going to be dedicated to unlocking athletic barriers, they go on to say that their posts, inspirational quotes, photos, hangouts, and videos will inspire this to serve you! We look forward to connecting with you! So what I'm going to do is go ahead and Publish this, and we can take a look here at the blog.

Now it's complete, and it's there, it's live and so for people who are following the blog, either clicking to it from the website or subscribing here, they're going to be alerted that No Obstacles Sport has a new plus, the Google+ page that is. It links to the Google+ page, and it talks about the value that the content is going to entail. And then also YouTube, and a lot of times people don't think of YouTube as a place to share links to social media and in particular Google+, but the description area of course needs to be appropriately descriptive of the video content, but what you can also do is include called actions in some of your videos.

This says to stay up to date on ways to unlock YOUR inner athlete, and it's an invitation to connect with other social media channels, like the BLOG, Google+, Twitter, and Facebook. For those of you who have a Facebook page what you can do is you can, of course, link to it on the About section. And believe it or not, the About section is one of the most frequently visited areas on a website. So the description talks about what No Obstacles Sport is all about, but it also talks about connecting with them on other social media pages, and there is the Google+ link.

So the name of the game in social media is giving your audience choices and they can choose to connect with you on Facebook, they can choose to connect with you on LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+. So, if you have a Google+ presence, you need to share that. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to copy that link here, and I'm also going to do a post on Facebook. So, "We have a new PLUS at No Obstacles Sport - a Google+ page that is!" Again, I'm speaking in conversational tone, I am going to paste the link here and the No Obstacles Sport page is coming up below, and I'm also going to include a caller action.

We invite you to follow us, we'll be sharing advice to unlock your inner athlete, and I'm going to go ahead and Post this. So that's another way to announce your Google+ page. We have it on the blog, I'm going to do a quick refresh here, and so we see that. There we go, and there is also Twitter, so I'm going to go ahead and hit the home page, and there is a link, Great News! We're on Google+! I'll do a little hash tag, athleticwear, these are all descriptive hash tags that describe what No Obstacles Sport sells. And there we go, tweeted.

So another link to the Google+ page, simple things that you can do. So just to refresh, all you do as you go to your Settings tab--I'm going to back out--go to hit Get Started, hit Tell the world, copy your link, and then you go ahead and you paste it, and everywhere that you communicate online, it could be your email newsletter, you're website, other social media channels, YouTube, and more. And one last note too is you can also include this in your email signature. Why not include a link to your Google+ page? So there that is this is Jaryl Leonard's email signature and she has a link to her Google+ page.

Some of you may want to customize this, make it look a little prettier, make it shorter, whatever works best for you. This is just a really basic example to help drive traffic and promote your Google+ page, specifically for business. One more tip to share, Google+ was designed with mobile in mind, I just went ahead and I did a search for Google+ Mobile, or you can go to google.com/mobile/+, and it takes you to the Mobile page, and you can download Google for Android or from your mobile device, whether your iPhone, your Android whatever device you have, you can do a search and download it directly to your phone.

The value of having Google+ from your mobile device for business purposes is that you can share content wherever you and your phone are, versus only managing content from the office. You can chat face-to-face with up to nine friends or folks in your circle at ones, you can turn multiple conversations into group chat, and you can see what people are saying, and you can also share photos. So there are many places and opportunities to truly integrate Google+ into your overall web presence.
