I'm going to walk you through Google+ for Business Customization steps, so you see all the things to prepare for when you manage your business page. Many of you may choose to watch this before you set your page up so you get comfortable with all the options and features first. I am logged into my account as Jaryl Leonard, CEO of No Obstacles Sport. I went to the Pages tab, right here, on the left side. If you don't see that, you can always find that here under More. I am going to go ahead and switch to this page, and I am going to click the blue button to do that.
First, I will hit OK, and yes Google, I understand I am using it now as a page, got it. I am going to start with the About section. So what I can do is I can toggle through posts about photos and videos. I am going to go ahead and go back to the About section and hit Edit profile. What you are going to want to do is look at everything. You're going to want to make sure that your name is spelled properly. Is No Obstacles Sport listed the way that I want it to be listed? I am going to cancel out of this just so you can see how I got here again.
When in doubt, click. I just put my mouse over the word, I clicked, and there it is under No Obstacles Sport. So, when you're going to add a Google+ page, you want to make sure your name is listed in the way that is correct. This includes proper spelling, proper legal name, some of you may want incorporation details like Inc or LLC after it, things like that. No Obstacles Sport is going to set their page up with just the words No No Obstacles Sport even though they are technically No Obstacles Sport Incorporated because they want to be more casual and appeal to their target market.
You can see this option when you're logged into the account, and you can just hit Edit profile like I have done before. I am going to leave this as is and hit Save. Next, we are going to go to the Introduction space. The Introduction tab is a place where you put a little information about your page. This helps people understand reasons that they would follow you, as well as help people understand that they found the correct company or organization. I find it's best to pre-write this, so the content really counts, and it's spell-checked, and it says what's important.
Sometimes a nice explanation about the page and what the page will share is nice, so it helps people understand your value. I am going to go ahead and click that just so you can see how to get in there and edit it. This area helps people understand reasons that they would follow you as well as help people understand that they found the correct organization. Personally, I find it's best to pre-write this introduction, so the content really counts, and it's spell checked, and it says what's important. Sometimes a nice explanation about what the page will share to people who are choosing to engage with your brand helps a lot.
So the people really see the value and are inspired to connect with you. So, what I did here is I wrote a short blurb for No Obstacles Sport. I just wrote it in a text pad, and I'll go ahead and copy that. We'll go back here, and paste that in. So, this short blurb for No Obstacles Sport talks about the company's mission, the value, and lastly, even the voice. This page will be dedicated to unlocking athletic barriers. Our posts, photos, hangouts, and videos will inspire this to serve you.
We look forward to connecting with you here on Google+. It has a little bit of warm fuzzy if you will. A little more authentic voice, because remember, social media is about that, being social. And so when you write in the same way that you talk, it can help people connect in a deeper more meaningful way. So, I am going to go ahead and hit Save on this, and we are good to go, and you can add information to the introduction by clicking on the Introduction text at any time. What we'll do is we'll optimize this section a little more in the following chapter, but for now, let's just get this overall description in there.
And next, if you're in business, don't you want people to contact you? This is a great place to put a phone number. You can put a couple of phone numbers, and you can make those either public, or you can make them available just to your circles. Since No Obstacles Sport is a global athletic wear company, they do want their information to be public. Those of you that are a little more mindful of funneling the people into your phone lines that you want to speak with, you can always change that to your circles.
So make that public, hit Save. And also by having your contact information there, it's a great opportunity to serve customers who need to call you. And one of the biggest ways to build credibility is to show that you are available to your customers. Next, you'll want to have a link to your website. When we created the account, we added the No Obstacles Sport home page, and that's perfect, that link makes complete sense. What you can also do is you can link this code to your website so that the Google+ Page connects directly.
So, let's say that you want this area right here, this Google button to link to your No Obstacles Sport page, you would hit Link Website, and you can either email these instructions--which I love that you can just send that right to your webmaster--or you can go ahead and you can just copy this, and send it to the webmaster or if you are a webmaster yourself, and you can add this code to your home page, then you're good to go, and you can test it. So, I will cancel out of that. There's another section called Links, which is right below where you can add things to your blog, Twitter, etcetera. So, let's see, what pages interest us? We will click that, and we will go ahead, and we will add the blog.
So, copy that, go back here, and we will hit Save. And at a later date, we can add things like Twitter, or Facebook, LinkedIn. I am going to ahead and click Done Editing, and we can move next into the category we want to select for our business.
