In this course, author Lorrie Thomas Ross teaches you how to use Google+ to effectively promote a business. So now the we have the Google+ for business page set up for No Obstacles Sport, everything from the page itself, the name, the Logo, Photos, our About section with the Tagline, the Introduction, Contact info, Website, Links. What we're going do is point out another area that you can customize, and that is your settings, and I'm going to show you two different ways to get there just so that you know what your options are. I'm going to go ahead and go to the top right area, and this is kind of the utility section of your business page, and I'm just going to click my name.
And I'm going to go here to Page settings, and there's a bunch of page settings that you can customize, but I'm going to back out just to show you the other way to get to this, you can also go down here, and you see where it says Get Started, Settings, Help, Send Feedback. When in doubt put your mouse over any words, and when the words highlight in blue that means it's clickable. So I'm going to go ahead and hit the Settings section from here. It takes me the same page as this one does as well. Just know there are different ways to get to these pages.
So as you're wrapping up customizing your Google+ for business page there are settings that are automatically set up from Google that you can go in and customize. Some of you who are familiar with Facebook, either from a personal usage or for Facebook pages, might be familiar with this, but those of you who are not I want to walk through all the different options you have. When you're managing a page there is obviously interaction, things like that, and right now anyone can send notifications. So that means that the public in general can send things.
If you want to limit the messages that come you're your email inbox, you can also limit it to your circles. So I'm going to go ahead and hit that, and I'm going to go back out of that keep it set anyone, and you can also manage who can comment on your public posts. So let's say I post an inspirational quote that might inspire my athletic apparel customers, anyone can comment on it, and that could be good/bad for some people, they're like, ah, I don't know if I want to handle that. You can also limit your comments to your circles or only you can comment on your posts or you can go ahead and customize that.
Feel free to take the time when you're setting up your own page to click around and play with some of these options. I'm going to keep it set to Anyone, because from a marketing perspective No Obstacles Sport is a large firm and they want to have as much feedback as they possibly can. Then also the Notification deliveries. This is the email address that Google has to send any updates to. If you have a preferred email address, and you want to change that, you can change that it any time. You can also go ahead and Add a phone number, and you can Manage your email subscriptions.
Google does like to communicate any updates about the activity, suggestions for friends, contacts. They'll send updates sometimes, and if that works for you, and you want to hear that, great, and if you don't, you can always check that. I'm going to go ahead and keep those checked as is. You can Receive notifications either by email or text message, and that is if someone mentions you in a post, share something with you directly, comments on a post, and for some of you you're going to want to be updated any time there is some noise out there on Google+ and some of you may say, you know, I really don't need to get every notification and the bigger the business the more comments potential that you're going to have. But this up to you.
There is no right or wrong to your notifications, it's really your own personal preference and how much management you want to have fed to you versus how much you want to proactively go in and see what's going on. You can be notified when people add you to one of their circles, if you get tagged in the photo, people comment on any of your photos as well as events, and you can also customize Your Circles, Photos, things like that. You can also set it to default to have Google try to connect your face in photos.
Right now this is unchecked and some of you may have it automatically checked. It just depends on your comfort level with how visible you want to be on the social web. Just know that any of these can be managed in a way that works best for you, and if you ever feel like you're getting too many messages are too many notifications just go in here to your Settings and make the updates. So that being said now you know what settings you have to work with. We will move on and look at the ways that you can customize your managers.
