Connecting your Google+ page with your website is a must, we have gone through the work to create the page, so here it is. We're going to go from Jaryl's personal account to No Obstacles Sports page, and if we built it, we want people to come, right? So how do we do that? We hit this Get Started link, it's a very nondescript link here on Google+, so once you're logged in, it's under the logo, hit Get Started, where my mouse is. And the Get Started page gives you tons of options of ways to get the world rolling and knowing about your organizations' page.
So, they encourage you to, of course, post, and you can post here--I'm going to back out of this and go back to the Get Started tab. They encourage you to share here, obviously, that's their main interest is to get people conversing, but in our case we're going to focus more on content later, let's look at connecting our website. What we want to do first is get this badge and let people know we're out there, so I'm going to go ahead and hit Get the Badge, and it takes you to a Developers section, which is pretty neat, because those of us who are truly developers can develop here and those of us who aren't webmasters, like myself, can still give email instructions to developers as well.
So, Google makes it pretty easy for us to go ahead and get this icon, and there is the standard icon and make sure that your business name is truly your account, because the code here is going to match the No Obstacles Sport page, you can do this for your personal page as well. And you have different options, you can do just the plain icon, you can do a small badge, you can do the larger standard badge. What I'm going to do here is take a quick look here, let's do a new tab, and let's go to the No Obstacles Sport page. And where the social media icons are right now for Facebook, Google, Twitter, we're going to want to update this to be the to Google+1, and there is not a lot of real estate.
So, what we're going to do is probably, let's hit click, I think this icon is going to be the best option here, and you can even make it Small, Medium, Large, and if you wanted to, you want to give it more information, you can say, Follow Us On Google+, so you have different ways to customize as needed. So, I'm just going to go back to the icon. I'm going to take this text out since we don't really have space on the No Obstacles Sports site. And what you'll do is you'll copy this, and if you're more of a sophisticated or savvy developer, you want to customize more, you can always click this, and customize some more.
What I'm going to do is go ahead and just go to Gmail and email it to the webmaster. And I'm logged in with my Google account, and I'm just going to do a quick email to Mark, who is the one who makes these updates. Please Update Google+ Icon on No Obstacles Sport website. Hi Mark, Can you please... Okay. So there we go! I'm going to go ahead and hit Send and for some of you that may be all you need to do to go ahead and share that.
For some of you who are your own webmasters, you can actually add your codes yourself, so I'm going to go back to the blog, and I see links to Facebook, Twitter website, YouTube, but there is no connection to Google+ here, and so there's actually a couple different web properties you can update, so your blog of course would be another area. The blog was developed on Blogger, which is powered by Google, so I logged into the blog, and you have a couple options here, you can Add a Gadget, and this is specific to Blogger.
You can also add the badge of the +1 button, specifically within the system. So, I'm going to go ahead and Add the Badge, and I need to go back to my account, because what we're being asked is our specific account information. So what I'm going to do is go back to Google+ and go to the No Obstacles Sport page, remember that nondescript Get Started link right there. And there is also another way to tell the world, and that's just adding a link to your website.
So I'm going to go ahead and copy that, and this is your specific Google ID, so if you're asked for that, and I'll show you where the applies in a minute. All of us that have a Google+ page have a specific number that identifies us, so when we go into Blogger to add the Google+ Badge, which I'll hit this again, they want your ID number. You can call it whatever you want to call it, you can make it light, you can make it dark, let's make it light, and let's go ahead and hit Save.
Let's see how that looks. That's actually a little bit longer, and it doesn't fit as well, so in this particular case we may want to ask a webmaster for a little bit of help. So I'm going to go ahead and remove that and then show you one last way that you can add this. So I'm going to copy the whole thing this time and go to the blog here. What we can do here is we can go on the Follow No Obstacles Sport and where you see Facebook, Twitter, Website, YouTube, we can add Google+, hit Save, and hit View Blog.
So I wanted to just show that you have few different options here. So now we have Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Website, YouTube, I am not a webmaster, I'm simply someone who knows best practices, so I'm just showing you some of the options that you can do yourself if you have access to a website. But no matter what you do, you want to make sure that you have links to Google+ on your websites, on your blog, and that way people who are familiar with your organization can connect with you. So, I'm going to go right back to the No Obstacles Sport page, hit Get Started again, and this is your dashboard, to start to share and connect with your website.
And next we're going to look at ways to take it a step further and share it on the web.
