Tools overview

Before we start building our first icon font, I want to take a moment to review some of the tools that we're going to be using. We'll start with the online tool IcoMoon. There are several really good online tools to choose from, but I'm a really big fan of IcoMoon's ease of use, and the level of control that you have over your font's settings. Once we begin creating our icon fonts from scratch, we're actually going to be using multiple tools. To create our vector artwork, I'm going to be using Adobe Illustrator. I've been using Illustrator for years, so I'm really comfortable with it. It also plays nicely with the font creation software that we're going to be using, actually allowing us to copy and paste artwork directly from Illustrator into our glyphs.
