Have a Mac? You have GarageBand, the most accessible, affordable, and easy-to-learn music recording software available. And with the release of GarageBand for OS X 10.9 Mavericks, it has some powerful new ways to spark your creativity. In this course, Garrick Chow covers the latest features in this serious update, including how to use Drummer, Smart Controls, and the new Visual EQ. He also covers remote controlling GarageBand with an iPad, using iCloud to access GarageBand projects from almost anywhere, and how you can open GarageBand for iOS projects on the desktop.
Note: You must have upgraded to OS X 10.9 Mavericks to download the latest version of GarageBand, but both updates are free.
(Music) Hello, I'm Garrick Chow and welcome to GarageBand for Mac New Features. I'll start by taking you on a tour of the revamped GarageBand interface and point out where the most important and frequently used settings, dials, and buttons have moved to. I'll also discuss which features found in previous versions of GarageBand have been removed. We'll look at the amazing new. Drummer feature, which puts a virtual drummer at your command, and gives you the ability to craft complex and realistic sounding drum and percussion parts to accompany your songs. I'll walk you through the smart controls, and show you how to tweak the settings of your individual tracks to customize the sound of all your instruments.
We'll look at the new Amp designer, and see how to craft a wide range of guitar and base guitar tones, with a combination of virtual apps, cabinets, microphones and pedals. I'll introduce you to the free logic remote app to control and record with GarageBand entirely from your iPad. And lastly, we'll look at GarageBand new ability to save and open projects to and from your iCloud account, as well as how to open projects created in the IOS version of GarageBand, allowing you to take work you've started on your iPad and finish it on your Mac.
