G.W. Childs IV began his music career playing in a small band while in the Army. He went on to a prestigious career in the gaming industry, working on award-winning titles such as Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. In addition to doing effects processing and sound design for video games, G.W. worked as a sound designer on the highly acclaimed and popular Reason 3 and Reason 4 from Propellerhead, as well as Cakewalk's Rapture. In the fall of 2006, G.W. released his first book, Creating Music and Sound for Games (Course Technology PTR). G.W. also began working with Obedia, a digital audio workstation training and support company. He has taken a teaching position at Globe Recording, where he teaches synthesis, MIDI production, and ReWire. G.W.'s longtime band, known as Soil & Eclipse, released its fifth album, "The Mirror," in 2008.
