Flickr has its own built-in email system and we are going to take a look at that and answer the burning question, what does this little number mean up here by my icon? That actually means the number of unopened pieces of mail you have waiting for you. So if you're wondering what's going on up there, it means that you have two pieces of mail waiting to be read. And to do that, you just mouse over, and you go over here to Flickr mail. And it brings us to the mail area.
This is old Flickr view we're in right now, not the new look and you have a couple different areas. You have your inbox. And then the breakout contact notifications. Which I actually appreciate. because the inbox is going to be when other Flickr members send you notes. Or Flickr themselves send you a note. That'll be here. And then the contact notifications are exactly that. This is just where you are being notified that people have added you as a contact, which is nice to know.
And then, if you set mail, which we haven't, that'll be right here, and here we get a little dash of that Flickr humor that we like so much, so that's nice of them. A little smiley face and everything. And then, once I open up a piece of mail here. Look at this, the number goes down. We're going to return to our message list and let's read our welcome message. Look at this. They brought us a basket of fruit, we just moved in. Just like that and now we're done. So that is mail here in Flickr, and just remember that it lives over here with your buddy icon.
In that if you see number up there that just means that you've got mail
