Venture into an entire world of captivating imagery and learn how to organize and share your best shots with others online. In this course, professional photographer Derrick Story guides you through the popular photo-sharing site Flickr, first introducing the Flickr mobile app, then demonstrating how to set up an account and upload images from your phone or common image editing applications such as iPhoto and Lightroom. Next, find out how to touch up and enhance your photos with the online editor, and make photos searchable with sets and collections and by assigning photos to maps. The course also helps you navigate the Flickr privacy settings and shows how to participate in the Flickr community through comments, contacts, groups, and more.
Here we are at the Flickr Home page, and you get here by clicking on the flickr icon right here, and you're home. Now it's personalized for you though, and right now we're taking a look at my page of the digital story. Because frankly I have more stuff going on than with the Training Home page. So it's a lot easier for me to show you activity. Down the middle here, the big pictures, these are my contacts. These are people that I follow, and they have been a busy bunch.
Look at all this good stuff here. So I get to take a look at what's going on with my contacts down this little thing, and. There are additional pictures that in this case were uploaded at the same time. So I have the main shot, but then I can see more stuff, little thumbnails there. And as I keep going here, you'll notice that we have this right here. So someone added me as a contact. I have the opportunity to add them back as a contact, and they get notified of that right here, in amongst my contact activity.
So, that's very nice. Now, on the right side here, let's go back up, here are my groups right here. And now if I'm a member of more than one group, this will rotate. And then there are Explore right here. Now, this could be a number of things. This could be, explore the latest editor's picks by Flickr. It could be the comments, it could be all sorts of goodies. So you'll never know what you get here. And if you Refresh, you might get something else, the Flickr Blog. So you can keep up on the world of Flickr and then people I may know.
So, if there are folks that I may know and I want to add them as a contact, I'm always presented with that opportunity right here. Now, the last thing I want to show you before we leave our Home page, is that if I wave over my buddy icon up there. Then I have the opportunity to change my settings, check my mail, get help or sign out. That's this little icon right here. And that will be consistent and then the Nav bar, which we will be exploring in upcoming movies, allows us to do things like go directly to our photostream. Explore our Contacts more or manage them, look at Communities, Explore the world of Flicker.
And of course Upload photos so that we can add our own stuff here. So this is the Flickr Home page it's personalized for us.
