In Flash Professional CS5 Essential Training, author Todd Perkins explains the fundamentals of Flash Professional CS5, the industry standard for creating animations and interactive applications for the web, desktop, and mobile devices. This course starts with the basics, such as using the drawing tools to create simple animations, and progresses to automating animation with tweens and adding interactivity with ActionScript. This course also covers how to add sound and video to projects, enhance realism with effects like easing, and publish a project to a variety of platforms. Exercise files are included.
Using the Color panel, you can apply a bitmap image as a fill to a shape. On the Stage here, I have a vector shape. So I'll open the Color panel and then for the Color Type drop-down, I am going to choose Bitmap Fill. So you notice that the shape is filled with a bitmap image, but it doesn't quite line up. So what I am going to do is use the Gradient Transform tool to align the bitmap fill to my shape. So I'll select the Gradient Transform tool in the center of the bitmap fill. I'll click-and-drag to move the bitmap fill to align with shape. And there you have it.
The advantage of that is that your vector path is always editable, so you can continue refining it once you've created. And I can use a JPEG image instead of a PNG File, which will allow me to compress the file to get better file size when I output my movie from Flash.
