Once you've imported video into Flash, you'll see the FLVPlayback component on the Stage with a preview of your video. One of the new features in Flash CS5 is that you can actually play the video using the component directly in Flash, without even having to test it in the Flash Player. So I can use the seek controls, I can see the time code updated, all of that without ever having to test the movie in the Flash Player. To edit the settings for the FLVPlayback component, select the video on the Stage.
Then look in the Properties panel. In the Properties panel, you'll see a section called Component Parameters. So if you expand that section, you'll see the different things that you can change for the component. So there is align, autoPlay, scaleMode and skin. Skin is the appearance of the controls of the component. So if you want to change that, you can just click the Pencil icon. Let's say I wanted to add a Full Screen button. So I can go to the next one down, which includes Full, and then click OK.
Now I have a Full Screen button for my component. Note that you can also change the background color of the skin and the source file and the volume, which is between 0 and 1. So you can use decimal points, if you want to set the default volume less than the maximum volume. So let's test this movie in the Flash Player. Notice that if you click the Full Screen button, nothing happens. That's because full screen only applies when the Flash content is embedded in an HTML file.
Further, the HTML file has to have a parameter to allow full-screen Flash. So let's look at how to do that real quick. Go to File > Publish Settings. In the Publish Settings window, go to HTML. In the HTML settings, go to the Template and choose Flash Only - Allow Full Screen. Then you can click OK. Once you've done that, go to File > Publish Preview > Default. Flash will then open your file in a web browser and you can click the Full Screen button to see the application in full-dcreen mode.
So, remember to press Escape to Exit Full Screen mode. Now I'll close my browser and return to Flash. So just remember that you can adjust the settings for the FLVPlayback component in the Properties panel. If you want to allow full screen for your application, you'll need to set that in your Publish Settings.
