In Flash Professional CS5 Essential Training, author Todd Perkins explains the fundamentals of Flash Professional CS5, the industry standard for creating animations and interactive applications for the web, desktop, and mobile devices. This course starts with the basics, such as using the drawing tools to create simple animations, and progresses to automating animation with tweens and adding interactivity with ActionScript. This course also covers how to add sound and video to projects, enhance realism with effects like easing, and publish a project to a variety of platforms. Exercise files are included.
In most cases, you're going to be inserting your SWF files into an already built web page. So here I have my webpage and I'm going to use Dreamweaver to insert my SWF file. So I'll click below my text here in an open paragraph. And then I'll insert Flash by going to Insert > Media > SWF. I'll then choose my gallery.swf file and for the Title I'll just type Image Gallery. This is for accessibility. Then I'll click OK.
My SWF file is then inserted. If I want to test it in Dreamweaver, I can click the Play button. So I can see what the application looks like inside of the web page. So, I'll click Stop. Then I can click the Edit button to go over to Flash to make any changes if I want to. So now I'll preview what this file looks like in a web browser. I'll go to File > Preview in Browser > Safari. Dreamweaver will then ask me whether I should save changes to this file and I'm going to click Save, because if I don't save the changes then the Flash won't be inserted.
So I'll click Save and here is my application in a web browser in a prebuilt website. As you can see I can click through it and everything works great. So I'll close Safari and return to Dreamweaver. So to insert Flash into a page that you have in Dreamweaver, go to Insert > Media > SWF.
