Now we will take a look at exporting and importing motion presets. Now one advantage to exporting and importing motion presets is that you can share your animations with others and then others can share their animations with you. For exporting and importing in this movie, we are going to export an animation that we have already created, delete it and then import it again just to show how the process works. If you are following along go ahead and open up Exporting_Importing.fla from the Chapter 5 folder. On the Stage here I have a static monster and I am going to export a motion preset, delete it and then import it and apply it to this monster.
So I'm going to open the Motion Presets panel. That's Window > Motion Presets. I have my Bounce Monster preset and the Shadow preset. So I am going to export these. I'll select Bounce Monster, right-click or Ctrl-click, and then choose Export. I'm going to export this to the Chapter 5 folder as Bounce Monster.xml. I click OK and I'll do the same thing with the Shadow. Right click or Ctrl-click, Export, and I will export it to the Chapter 5 folder with its default name Shadow.xml. I will click Save and I will save that file. Then I am going to delete the motion presets from the Motion Presets panel. So I'll select Bounce Monster and click the Delete button to delete the motion preset.
I will do the same thing for the Shadow. Notice we're just getting a warning that make sure that you really want to delete that motion preset. If you are curious about the XML files that are created by Flash and you are familiar with XML, you could open up those files in a Text Editor. I will do that now. I am going to go over to Finder, and then I'll open up Shadow.xml, just right in Flash. Flash can actually open XML file. So if I double click this file, it is going to open in Flash, and by the way, if you double clicked a file on your machine, then the file might not open up in Flash. It's just opening up in Flash on my machine because I have Flash set to open XML files.
So we see the XML data that contains all the information about the animation, quite a bit. Well, I am glad that I didn't have to type this code out by hand. So I am going to close Shadow.xml. Now we will import the XML file into Flash by opening the Motion Presets panel again. So Window > Motion Presets. I'm going to import some presets by clicking in the Options area at the top right of the Motion Presets panel. I will choose Import. I'm going to navigate to the Chapter 5 folder and import Bounce Monster.xml. Then I am going to Command-click or Ctrl-click on the PC, Shadow.xml as well and click Open.
You will see that both motion presets are added to the Custom Presets section in the Motion Presets panel. So I can click on the Monster, select the Bounce Monster preset and apply it and do the same thing with the Shadow. So I'll select the shadow, choose the Shadow preset and click Apply. Now when I test the movie, I can preview the animation with the motion presets that I imported, Command+Return on Mac, Ctrl+Enter on the PC. There's the motion presets applied to our objects. So by exporting motion presets and being able to import them, you can share motion presets with others and others can share their motion presets with you.
