Advanced Flash 5: Introduction to ActionScripting with Josh Ulm and Garo Green is an instructional workshop presenting the radically new object-oriented scripting mode introduced by Macromedia Flash 5. This workshop offers completely new and original exercises developed specifically to teach the fundamentals of object-oriented programming inside of Flash. While traditional scripting methods are still accessible in Flash 5, adopting object-oriented methods will significantly change the way you develop Flash movies. Object-oriented programming will produce movies that are smaller, faster, more powerful and extensible. This workshop breaks ActionScripting down into easy-to-understand fundamental concepts, so Flash developers can harness the power and complexity of Flash without relying on complicated single-use tricks.
Josh Ulm is the director of experience design for Adobe Systems, Inc. He is responsible for the mobile, dynamic media, and platform departments. He works with the mobile and devices group to define the mobile experience platform, while interacting directly with developers and customers to create engaging Flash Lite experiences. Josh's work has driven the successful adoption of many products and technologies for companies and their customers, as he is frequently asked to develop a company's specific experience vision. He is an active and respected veteran within the Flash and mobile developer communities.
Before joining Macromedia, he founded ioResearch Studios, Inc., a completely interactive production studio based in Marin County, CA. The studio fostered a broad client base, ranging from museum and cultural institutions to software and technology leaders.
