Fireworks CS4 is a hybrid imaging and rapid-prototyping application with an enhanced toolset and a greater variety of options. In Fireworks CS4 Essential Training, Jim Babbage demonstrates how to navigate and customize the workspace in this design and production hub. He then provides a primer on the array of graphics that can be created and combined in Fireworks, including bitmap and vector art, layered Photoshop and Illustrator files, and files in the native Fireworks format, enhanced PNG. If you're brand-new to Fireworks then Essential Training is the perfect course for you.

If you've been working with the program for a while, you might want to check out the Fireworks New Features title to catch up on the latest upgrades to Fireworks. In this Essential Training course we'll go deep into every aspect of Fireworks that you'll need to confidently and proficiently use this powerful program. That includes giving you a detailed tour of the interface so that you can find things easily and even show you how to customize your workspace so it perfectly suits your working style. I'll get you comfortable working with the Fireworks enhanced PNG format as well as importing and exporting files to and from programs including Illustrator and Photoshop. This also includes getting a solid handle on generating a CSS-based export.

You'll learn how to use Fireworks rich set of the vector and bitmap-based tools to size and edit your images and create special effects. We'll take a detailed look at graphic, buttons and animation symbols, which are at the heart of Fireworks efficient workflow. And we'll even create some animation in Fireworks. We'll immerse ourselves in learning how to use Fireworks as a rapid prototyping tool as well, for HTML, AIR and PDF. I've put a lot of thought into making this course a great way to learn one of my favorite programs. If you stick with Essential Training, I think you'll see why Fireworks is a program I turn to again and again.
