Let's go to a different shot, Rob. >> Okay. >> And I just want to get a shot, a little bit of variety. Let's go back to the outdoor shot here where there's lots of color and exposure to work with. Alright, let's apply looks, and basically when I open this up, my screen is at a lower resolution so I have to pan around a little bit. We'll click the Edit button here to open it up. And it shows you the shot. And basically, you know, let me just scroll up here, you've got all these different things you could apply manually. >> Mm-hm. >> Which is fine, but why don't we take the easy look.
One of the first things is, is this ability to just sort of preview looks. So classic popular TV. And I can hit Play and it's just going to basically cycle through a slide show. >> Yeah. >> Of popular looks. >> Yeah. It, it's brilliant. So you can quickly, just with the client sitting there. And again, we're looking at this at a little slightly reduced screen size for recording purposes. But you know, this would be playing nice and full screen. You can see as it's going through, all the different effects that are particularly used for that particular look. Now the other thing I love about this, too, by the way is that there are nice built in scopes to look as well, so really getting out what you need about your image in terms of what the signal is doing, very accessible there as well.
Right, and we're going to apply a look and at the bottom if I just scroll down, we have the overall looks. And this loads them all in and we've got a bunch to choose from and you see that they're organized logically by things like monochromatic, if you want those. And, and in here sort of an isolated look. I click and apply there. You see it basically preserve the red in the skin tone. That was fast and easy. >> I gotta tell you. I mean, the, the really awesome thing about these effects is that they actually really work well as presets. A lot of other presets and third-party effects that are out there, you're kind of like okay I kind of get where they're going but.
>> Yeah >> Yeah, I want to work faster. And this really, I, I find a lot times simply just one click and I'm kind of almost already there. >> Now as we take a look here, let's go into, say, a classic music video look. >> Mm-hm. >> And, you see, again, they're sort of organized and so, maybe they want, sort of, just a, a, you know, a nice big greenish look or. >> Mm-hm. >> Or that classic pop look. Well once you've done that, you can see how it's being done at the bottom. >> Right, and if you click on one of those. >> For example, there's Cosmo, that's the skin smoother. And if we just scroll that up we see all the controls there for Skin Smoother.
>> Yeah, now speaking of skin, one of the most ingenious things inside of the Magic Bullet for skin is actually seeing what Magic Bullet thinks of what is skin. Right so if I go to skin there, it places that grid, over my subjects face, so a lot of these looks are going to do their best to protect skin tone, so it looks natural. And it, I think it's a really unique thing that you don't find in a lot of other places for being able to sort of identify what skin, and protect it and that kind of stuff. >> Yeah, so as you start to explore this, you know as you come up with looks, each of these, can be totally tweaked.
So if I decided, you know, I like that, but I also want to add to this. Go ahead and put a little bit of Crush in there. I could just drag that on. >> Yep. >> And it added that to the mix. There it was. And now I could start to adjust that a little bit. Let me just keep taking that down to crush the blacks a little more. >> Yep. So now you got a real deep look there. Sure. >> Yeah. And if you change your mind, you just click the Power button and you can turn it off. So you can easily audition different looks for the client turning on variations as you're working. You know, maybe they want a little bit more.
Oh I like that, but let's open up the exposure a bit. There it is and I could just come to anyone of those properties and dial that in a little bit there. >> Yeah, now the point is is that it's really customizable. And I think that and the designers of the product have done a fantastic job of making this very intuitive. I know a lot about color correction, but even if you don't know a lot about color correction, simply coming into a tool like this, I think in a matter of ten minutes, it's so intuitive, that you're going to be able to develop looks that, you can still come to me and pay me by the way, but you might otherwise go to a colorist and pay hundreds of dollars an hour, and you're doing it all within the context of your edit directly in your NLE, which is brilliant.
And when you're done, Rich, let's just say this is the look I like, all you gotta do is come down here to the bottom, click Finished, and in just a second, that look's been updated on your timeline, and you're ready to rock and roll. >> So a lot of fun here. I would encourage you for all of these tools to download some trial versions and mix them up. Don't download them all at the same time. Pull one down, play with it for the two week trial that it runs, or the 30 day trial. Use it on a job, get familiar. Then try another one. Just audition some of these out. I think what you'll see is that it really takes your tool that much further. Now, for a lot of folks, I think going to something like Resolve.
>> Right. >> Or Speedgrade is going to make sense. For others having that control in the editorial time line is going to work as well, but hey, it's all about choices. So, hopefully we gave you some fresh ideas, be sure to check these tools out, because they let you take your footage, that much further.
