In this week, Rich, we're talking about something that. >> It's hard. >> It's hard and to be honest with you it's how I make my money and my living. And that is the idea of matching cameras. Now, people go out four, five, six, seven, eight cameras to film an event or concert or something like that. >> Yeah. And they just kind of film and maybe, maybe they pay attention to things like white balance or things like syncing, you know, using a slate. But often times, it's this guy was using this white balance.
That woman over there was using that white balance. Different camera settings altogether. By the time it gets in the post it's just a mess. >> Oh yeah. And there's a lot of challenges. We're going to cover some of those specifically. But, we've already done this on past episodes. You've seen us do a multi-camera video shoot >> Yup. >> When we shot Jason Massey over at the Iota Club in Arlington, Virginia. And, in that case, we had Canons and Nikon cameras both shooting. And, and what's the challenge there, Rob? >> Well, it's just to get them in the same ballpark, you know? It really is a thing at the the, the beginning of the day. We had, okay, what have we got.
We've got Nikons, we've got Canons, we have these lenses, we have those lenses. Now on a bigger budget, more intense shoot, there might be a day or two you know of testing, where you're just getting all these cameras in line. Figuring out the best profiles. Seeing how the different lenses react to light and getting the lenses matched up. Now in our case, we didn't have two, three, four days in there. So one of the things that we discussed when we were there was okay, let's make sure we're shooting the same frame rate. The same white balance target so we can all white balance off that. If we're using a preset, hey what are you at? I'm at 5600, are you at 5600? >> Yeah.
>> Things of that nature and just very small tasks like that can really make a big difference later on in post. >> Yeah. In fact, we'll be right back and we're going to break down all those things that you have to pay attention to. And it's a pretty long list. You know, it's one thing to get one camera set up right. It's another to get multiple cameras set up right. So we're going to look at that next.
