Ashley Kennedy

Ashley Kennedy is first and foremost a teacher—with hundreds of hours of experience leading face-to-face classes, facilitating online and hybrid courses, and creating engaging video tutorial content. The bulk of her expertise lies in the field of film and video, but she teaches in many other areas as well. She has also written two textbooks on video editing, which have been widely used by editors and film students worldwide.

Ashley is the digital media instructor for Columbia College Chicago's Center for Innovation in Teaching Excellence (CITE), where she designs and leads dozens of different workshops and courses for campus-wide faculty. She is also an adjunct professor at Columbia, where she primarily teaches advanced editing classes. Prior to making the leap to higher education, she was the principle instructor and certifications program manager at Avid Technology, Inc., where she taught and developed the Avid Certified curriculum and managed the Avid Certified Instructor worldwide program.

Ashley holds a B.S. in broadcast journalism from the University of Illinois, and an M.F.A in film from Boston University.
