In Encore CS5 Essential Training, author Chad Perkins gives an extensive overview of Encore CS5, Adobe's powerful application for authoring DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, and Flash-based video for the web. This course covers adding audio and subtitle tracks, creating image slideshows, and using Encore as a presentation tool. Also explained are the Blu-ray enhancements in CS5, and advanced techniques such as creating games and hidden content for disc menus. Exercise files are included with the course.
Similar to what we saw with the Menu Viewer and the Menu panel, there is also a Timeline Viewer and the Timeline panel. Just so that we are clear, I wanted to explain those briefly to you. What we are looking at here when we are playing around with our content, editing footage, editing chapter markers, et cetera, et cetera. This here is the Timeline Viewer. That's what we are looking at here. If you have multiple timelines, you can choose those from this dropdown here, as well as, if you had multiple menus, you could choose them from the Menu Viewer dropdown here. And then you also notice, just like with menus, we have a Timelines panel.
And the Timelines panel, again ,just like the menus panel over here, it allows you to see all the timelines in your product at a glance. And if you click on one of those timelines and select it, you'll see all of the chapter markers below. And just like with the Menus panel, when we select a menu and we see all of the buttons here and how they are linked, when we select a timeline in the Timelines panel, the second half, the lower hemisphere, if you will, of this panel shows you all of the chapter markers. It shows you which timeline they are associated with, and also shows you In points where the Poster Frame is and if there's Links and all that kind of stuff as well.
So if you hear me refer to the Timelines panel or the Timeline Viewer, don't get confused. Again, just like with menus, there is a viewer and a panel, and they do different things.
