Elements is very well known for its project features, and Jan shows how to create books, collages, panoramas, and more. Example files accompany the course.
Scrapbookers, here is another tool for you. The Cookie Cutter tool will take any photograph and create a shape from it and then you can use those shapes on any other image. I'll use that tool to create a shape from this image water2.jpg from the 11_05-cookie subfolder in the exercise files. After I select the tool I'm going to go up to the Shape menu at the top of the screen in the Options bar and I can select any of the shapes that are here. These are the same shapes that are available for the Custom Shape tool, which I covered in another movie.
I'm going to select the fish and then I'll click in a blank area of the Options bar to close that menu. In the shape options menu I'm going to change Cookie Cutter options from Unconstrained to Defined Proportions and then when I drag out this fish, I won't have to hold the Shift key to keep the fish from becoming distorted. I'm going to back in the Options bar in the Feather field if I wanted the edge of this shape to be soft, so that they would blend in if I would combine the shape with another image, I could add a little bit of feather. But the danger of feathering is you never know exactly how much to put in this field, so I usually leave this alone and soften the edges of the shape if and when I bring the shape in to another image. Now I'm just going to come into the photo and I'm going to click and drag to create a fish shape. I have not committed that change yet so I still have the opportunity to move my mouse over one of the corners and then dragging to rotate that shape or moving my mouse over any of the corner anchor points, holding the Shift key to constrain proportions and drag in to change the size.
When I'm ready to accept that shape I just click the green check mark and I now have fish filled with photograph of water. The Cookie Cutter tool has lot of possibilities. It's great for scrapbookers or for people who may need a logo or anything else that is a shape.
