Before we get started, I would like to show you the solution to a problem you might encounter when you open a Premiere Elements project file. We are going to look closely at exactly what a project file is later but for now, let's just say that it is a file that, among other things, points to the video clips, images, audio and graphic files that you are going to use in your movie. Occasionally, Premiere Elements is unable to find those files and it asks you for help. Here is what that looks like. I'm opening the 09-mixing project file and Premiere Elements displays this dialog box asking you to locate SmartSound-KicknBack-mix wave. All you have to do is find the folder where that file resides and select the file and click Open.
Premiere Elements find that file then asks for the location of these other files. I'm going to click on this file and with that, Premiere Elements opens the project and you are all set. Now, it is possible that you could be working on a project and some file will still be offline, like this. When that happens, just double-click on the file name and the dialog box will open allowing you to find the missing element. This is not an uncommon problem in Premiere Elements but as you can see it is easily solved.
