In this course, author Jan Kabili introduces the photo organizing, editing, and sharing features of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, the less expensive version of Photoshop that’s ideal for casual photographers who want to achieve professional results. The course covers importing, organizing, and finding photos with the Organizer. It explains how and when to use each of the editing workspaces—from the simple Quick Fix and Guided Edit workspaces to the Full Edit workspace for enhancing your photos—including making photo corrections, retouching, compositing images, and adding text. The final chapter offers creative ways to share photos with Elements, including print projects like greeting cards, calendars, and books, emailing photos, and posting them on Facebook and Flickr.
The most popular things that you can make from your photos in Elements Create Workspace are probably Photo Books, Photo Calendars, Greeting Cards and perhaps Photo Collages as well as Slide Shows. There are a few other things that you can do from the Create Workspace and I wanted to take on a quick tour of those to make sure that you know about them. And what I am about to show you here in the Organizer, applies to the Editor too does the Editor also has to Create tab like this. If I go up to the Photo Prints item in the Create tab, from here I can begin printing as normal on my local printer or I can specifically print a picture package or a contact sheet and I can order prints printed for me commercially by either Shutterfly or Kodak Gallery.
I am going to cut that here and click Cancel, to show you another feature in the Create tab which is down here, PhotoStamps. You may not have known that you can order actual postage stamps with your photo on them from right here in Elements. There is a fee for this, but this is where you access that feature. The two features about it, DVD with menu and Instant Movie are for use with another program Premiere Elements Editor which is used for video editing. So that's outside the scope of this course. And then if I come down here and click More Options, I can choose to make a CD Jacket, a DVD Jacket or a CD or DVD Label.
I will show you DVD Jacket, if I click that I see a dialog box, that's very much like a dialog box that we saw for Photo Books, for Calendars and for Greeting Cards where you can choose a size for your DVD Jacket and have its photo placeholders automatically filled with images that you have selected. I am going to click Cancel to close this. And there is one more option for Windows users of Photoshop Elements and that is, a Flipbook. This is basically a little animation that you can create using a series of photos or drawings.
There's also VCD with menu, but again this is primarily for use with Premiere Elements. So those are some additional options that you have here in the Create Workspace that you can explore on your own.
