Video: Importing photos from iPhoto (Mac only)

If you're a Mac user and you have already been importing photos using iPhoto, which is another photo management tool, Photoshop Elements is another way to import those photos from your iPhoto Library. Let me show you how easy this is. I'm beginning this video with the Elements 10 Organizer already open on my computer. And I'm going to come up here to the File menu and I'm going to go to the Get Photos and Videos submenu. You'll notice that in addition to the three typical options that we have up here, we also have from iPhoto.

Importing photos from iPhoto (Mac only)

If you're a Mac user and you have already been importing photos using iPhoto, which is another photo management tool, Photoshop Elements is another way to import those photos from your iPhoto Library. Let me show you how easy this is. I'm beginning this video with the Elements 10 Organizer already open on my computer. And I'm going to come up here to the File menu and I'm going to go to the Get Photos and Videos submenu. You'll notice that in addition to the three typical options that we have up here, we also have from iPhoto.

Now, if you don't see this option, it's because you do not have iPhoto installed on your computer or you're using Windows. So, those are the parameters in which you need to abide by in order for this option to even show up. So keep in mind, you have to be using Mac, and you have to have iPhoto installed. So, I'm going to to go ahead and click the From iPhoto option, and this dialog is going to to indicate that it's going to attempt to import my photos from the default iPhoto folder. So, I'm going to go ahead and click OK, and in a few seconds, it will have imported all of the images from my iPhoto Library.

So, I'll go ahead and click OK. And even though I don't have very many images that have been used in iPhoto, you can see that all of them have been imported. So this is a great way to reuse those photos that you may have already imported into iPhoto and be able to quickly access them inside of the Elements 10 organizer. As you can see, even if you've already been importing photos into iPhoto, Photoshop Elements 10 can make good use of those photos and save you time by importing them directly from iPhoto into the Elements 10 Organizer.
