Sprite sheet editing in Fireworks

With the sprite sheet created in Flash, we still need to do some imaging work, because the individual images in the sprite sheet are simply too large for the final composition. In this exercise, we are initially going to use Fireworks for this task, though any imaging application, such as Photoshop, will do. In fact, I'm going to show you how to do it in Photoshop, as well. The reason I am using Fireworks, is because it really is the tool for the job. It is a screen imaging application, that will allow me to quickly accomplish what I need to do. That includes scaling the sprite sheet and trimming off the excess from the sheet. This animation is rather simple. Our little guy right here, runs onto the image, behind the incense burner and goes running off the left side of the image. I copied one of the images from the sprite sheet, and scaled it down to a size that I felt, worked for this composition. The size, as shown here in the Properties panel, is roughly 220 pixels by 195 pixels…
