Adding external scripts

Edge animate has a lot of interactive capabilities built right in, so as I select these eyes, I can open up the actions for these eyes, I clicked this Plus button, and you can see all the functionality I can add to the eyes, whether it's mouse events touch events, or even swiping events, but what's not in here. Is drag and drop, and that's what I want to add. Now I could just write it right in here with JavaScript, but I'd rather take advantage of a script library that's already written that has that functionality in it, and that I can easily apply and start modifying.

So let's take a look at adding a script file. In fact, jQuery UI has Draggable and Droppable. So I'm going to lauch a browser and I'm going to jQueryUI.com. Notice right down the side here, you have you're Draggable and your Droppable. And that's what I want to take advantage of. So just download that library. Okay, I'm going to download the stable version, 1.4 in this case. There it is. I will Unzip it. And if we take a look right in here in this js folder. This is the file I want to take advantage of.

Or I can even take advantage of the uncompressed one if I want to. Either way, I can go into Window, open up the Library panel, which I happen to have right over here. And in this Library panel under Scripts I want to add a Script. You can add it from a URL or from a disk or my desktop if you will. Locating that jQuery 1.10.4.min.js or whatever library you want to add. Selecting open and you can see it right here, loaded in.

Now, how do I know that it's loaded in? Let's do a quick test just to make sure. You can go to your Timeline panel right up here at the top. Open up the actions for the stage. Once this stage is created I can do a creation complete, and I can add some code right in here. In fact all I need to do is say if jQuery is loaded. Just give me an alert. That says loaded.

This is just our own little test. Saving this, previewing it in a browser and you can see that it is loaded and I can start taking the advantage of that Java Script file that has the Draggable. And droppable functionality.
