Nothing in web development has changed as much as the design options available, but Drupal has kept up and now it's fair to say that it can create just about any page layout that HTML can. After all Drupal is based in HTML and CSS. However, Drupal has its own way of doing things that makes some kinds of designs easy and some really hard. Knowing which is which will help you to go with the flow or to force it to create undrupally designs when you need to. First let's cover a few things about Drupal's design that you've probably noticed already. Like most content management systems, it's extremely consistent. As we go from page-to-page you see the same header, you see the same sidebars, for the most part, and it doesn't matter if you go to something that's a page or if you go to a user account. Again, it stays mostly consistent. Along those lines there are different areas of the page. We have the header as I mentioned and the sidebars but there's also this footer area that we haven't…
