Where to go from here

From: Create a Sliding Tabbed Panel with jQuery and Dreamweaver

Video: Where to go from here

So we just completed adding some progressive enhancement techniques to our sliding tab panel. There is a few other courses I have in the lynda.com online training library where you can use these same techniques to progressively enhance those projects. One is the Homepage Promotional Marquee. This is a series of panels that line up on a horizontal row--very similar to what we just did in our sliding panels. So we can actually set this to have all of these panels stack vertically if JavaScript is not enabled. And the other project is a frequently asked questions listing. In this course I teach you how to create a collapsible panel where we take one div, in this case the question, and clicking on it will open the corresponding div, which has the answer to the related question.

In this course I teach you how to create a collapsible panel where we take one div, in this case the question, and clicking on it will open the corresponding div, which has the answer to the related question.

So what you might want to do inside of this particular example is go into the HTML code, find the div called faq_answers_container, set those to be visible by default in the CSS, and then use JavaScript to go in and change those FAQ answers' height to be zero. So any interactive project you are working on that includes HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can benefit from techniques of taking some of that content, setting the default display, and then rearranging the CSS properties once your JavaScript has been loaded.

So I wish you all the luck in creating your sliding type panels, and I really appreciate you watching my course.
