Frequently asked questions (FAQs) are a popular aspect of any web site. This course shows how to create questions that have expandable and collapsible answers, allowing visitors to easily find the information they need. Author and jQuery expert Chris Converse shows how to build an FAQ section for your site quickly, using the tools in Dreamweaver and the code libraries in jQuery. In addition, the course demonstrates how to automatically link to a specific question, and automatically open the answer, giving you the ability to provide users with a direct answer to their question.
Now the first thing we're going to do is create a brand-new CSS rule. Let's come up over to the CSS Styles panel. Let's come down and create a new CSS rule. This is going to be a Class. We're going to call this faq_container. Let's click OK. Let's come over to the Box properties. We're going to set a width of 700 pixels. Let's uncheck Same for all under Padding. For Padding we're going to choose 0 on the Top, 0 on the Right, 5 on the Bottom, 0 on the Left.
Uncheck Same for all for Margin. We're going to set 20 on the Top, 0 on the Right, 0 on the Bottom, 20 on the Left. Let's come over to Background. Under Background-image, click Browse > Desktop > myFAQ > Images. Let's grab the corkboard_tile. Let's click Choose. Let's choose repeat, 0 on the X, and 0 on the Y axis. Let's click OK. Now to edit div element into the page. We're going to come up to the Insert menu. Under Layout, let's choose Insert Div Tag.
We're going to leave this at insertion point. For the Class, we're going to choose faq_container, then click OK. Dreamweaver is going to put the div in the page, and it's also going to give us some default text here to make sure that we can put additional elements inside of this container. Now we're going to bring in an image tag in here. So let's get the cursor after the word "Content." Let's come up to the Common group. Let's choose insert an Image, and from the images directory, we're going to grab corkboard_heading, then hit Choose.
For alternate text, we'll just put in faq, then click OK. Now that we've our main container complete, and we have our background graphic in place, in the next movie we'll create the CSS rules for the actual question-and-answer blocks.
