- So, how did your culturally inspired drawing come out? Was there a specific reason you chose the culture you did? Did you pick a style you had never drawn before? That is always a good thing to do in order to challenge yourself and flex your creative muscles. I love the art related to the Mayan culture. The style they created their hieroglyphics in is pretty funky, so I naturally gravitated towards that in my drawings. Let me show you what I created. So when I approached this specific project, I got some reference in terms of the Mayan artwork and that kind of really locked in the direction I wanted to take. I wanted to do a circular motif. So, before I started drawing like this, I cheated of sorts and created a template for myself and printed it out and then used this as my guide to draw. So this shows you some pretty rough drawings, they were just pencil drawings, using nothing more than a pencil on some tracing paper. I aligned it with the template, and that helped me to draw it…
