- How did your live drawing go? Did you initially feel awkward doing this? Did anyone ask to see what you were drawing? Did it stretch your comfort zone a little? Here's one of my live drawings from the local coffee shop I like to visit. Carrying a sketchbook is a great way to do this type of live drawing, but to be completely honest with you, I either sketch on notepads or, in this case, as you can see here in my drawn sketch, I sketched on just loose leaf paper. Now, when I do a drawing like this, the subject matter is going to be constantly changing, meaning people are going to be moving, and in a coffee shop, the models became the people in the coffee shop, in this case the barista, and he was pouring coffee, and I can't remember the type of coffee or anything like that, but I liked his pose, and in order to capture it, you have to do gesture drawing, which is really quick, just loose positioning to get the proportion down, not the exact contour.
