Negotiating contracts with clients

Negotiation is not a dirty word; it's all part of the process of making a deal with clients. You'll create your Designer-Client Agreement and present it to the client. They may not agree with 100% of what you've requested, the trick here is to understand what they object to, and see if it's something you can live with or not. Some things are deal breakers, some aren't. You can always counter their demands with a compromise. Meeting in the middle is a kind of win-win situation, maybe you both give a little bit in order to reach a happy place that you can both live with. Remember, it's far easier to make a deal with this client than to go out prospecting for a new one, just make sure not to sell yourself short. Not every designer is driven by money, lots of them are much more interested in the artistic aspects of projects. I think it comes down to balancing both aspects.
