Creating and producing a great audio or video file is just half of the equation; the other half is compressing finished files for smooth, fast distribution over a variety of media, from websites to iPhones. In Compressor 3 Essential Training, instructor Larry Jordan shows how to use Apple Compressor 3.0 to export and compress Final Cut Pro, LiveType, Motion, and Soundtrack Pro files for use on DVDs, Apple devices, and the web. Exercise files accompany the tutorials.
So you say you want to create a video for Apple TV, well if it was any easier, it would probably be illegal. Here's how it works. Select the Batch Window, go to Job, New Job With File, select the video that you want to compress and twirl down Apple and under Apple devices, which is the very first category, there is three. There is iPod, which we just talked about, and Apple TV. Click, hold and drag it right up to here, it's now applied all the necessary Apple TV settings, make sure it goes to the destination you want by control clicking on desktop and setting it to the destination you wanted the compressed file to be stored and if you need to adjust the width of this, just grab this slighter and adjust the width, drag it over, give it a name, make sure you like the name that you have given it and click the Submit button and My Horses.
You want to compress it to this computer because we are not using Distributed Processing, click Submit and there it shows up inside the History panel. You are compressing your movies for your Apple TV.
