There is no arguing that projects are a great way to organize your applications, but if you are dealing with years worth of work in your Project Navigator, it can be difficult to find what you are after. The easiest way to take care of this problem is by creating working sets for your projects, which is a way of logically grouping your projects in the Navigator view. We can deal with our working sets by clicking the View menu in the Navigator view and choose Select Working Set. In this dialog, we can either select an existing working set or we can create new ones. Our three options at the top are Window Working Sets, which is actually Java specific and something we are not going to need to use with ColdFusion Builder.
We can deselect any working sets or select working sets we have already configured. So, let's create a new working set. I am going to click Ne and we will choose Resource. This is a general purpose working set for any Eclipse based resource. So, we will click Next and I am going to name these Sites, because I am going to just put Site 1 and Site 2 inside of this working set. I will click Finish, and we can now see that working set listed here in our dialog. If I select that option and click OK, my Navigator view then filters down and only shows me Site 1 and Site 2.
If I click the View menu and the Navigator view, I can see that the Sites working set is selected. If I deselect that working set, I get all of my projects back in the Navigator view. So, the working sets are just a way to filter down the Navigator view. They don't remove your projects at all, they are still there, they are just hidden so that you don't have to look at them when you are dealing with a particular group of projects. If I need to edit my working set, I can click the View menu, choose Select, highlight the one I would like to edit, click Edit, and I can add and remove projects from that working set.
I will click Cancel. And I am going to add another working set. Let's click New > Resource. We will click Next. I will name this one CFBuilder Projects and in this one, I don't want Site 1 or Site 2. I just want CFBuilder. I will click Finish. And I am going to select both of these working sets as my active working sets and click OK. And now I see all three of those sites in my Navigator view. As you can see, working sets are a quick and easy way to get things organized in the Navigator view, especially if you don't want to create multiple workspaces to organize all of your projects.
