Garrick also shows how to use special library features such as bookmarks, the queue, certificates of completion, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and more, as well as where to turn for help when you need it. Plus, learn to access lynda.com on the go, either through our mobile site, or the iOS app, which also supports playing videos on your TV via AirPlay and an Apple TV.
If you're an annual premium subscriber to lynda.com, you can take advantage of our iOS apps offline viewing feature. Offline viewing lets you download courses to your iOS device, so they can be watched without an internet connection allowing you to continue learning anywhere. To download a course, log into your account in our iOS app, then navigate to the course. At the top of the screen, you'll see a download button. Tap it and you'll see a message letting you know how much of your device's storage space this course will use and how much space is currently available on your device. You're free to download as many courses as you like with the only limitation being your device's available storage space.
When you're ready, tap Download Now. If this is your first time downloading content to the device, you'll see a message asking you to authorize the device for downloading. You can authorize up to three separate iOS devices. You'll also see this message telling you that downloads may pause while lynda.com is in the background. We suggest allowing notifications from the lynda.com app, so you can be alerted when this happens. Ultimately, you can just keep our app open until the download completes. You can watch the progress of the download by tapping the Downloading Button. From here, you can also pause or cancel the download. Once the download completes, tap Done. The courses you've downloaded can be found by tapping the Menu Button in the upper left-hand corner.
And here you'll find downloaded courses. Tap on the course to access and view its movies. Your viewing experience will be the same as if you were viewing the movies online. But viewing downloaded movies won't use any of your bandwidth or cellular data allotment, since the movies are stored on your device. You can open the menu and tap Go Offline Now to take the lynda.com app offline while keeping your device online, so other apps still have access to the internet. You can also view your downloaded movies if your device is in airplane mode with no internet connection at all. When you next have an internet connection or when you're ready to go back online, tap Go Online Now. The record of any movies you've watched while offline will be added to your course history once you're back online.
On the downloaded courses screen, you can tap Edit to delete the courses you've watched if you want to free up space. You can also open the menu, and tap Delete All Downloads to remove all downloaded content at once. So if you're an annual premium subscriber to lynda.com, we hope you'll enjoy the added benefit of offline viewing and take advantage of the ability to learn even when you don't have an internet connection.
