Beginning with a quality file
Whether you created the e-book files yourself, or paid someone to create them for you, performing quality control at this stage will save time and reduce frustration when it comes time to add your files to each online store. The Apple iBook Store is particularly finicky when it comes to submitting an e-book file. But even if the store accepts your book, it doesn't mean you're home free. Each store reserves the right to remove your book from their e-shelves, and I've heard cases where it happened due to poor quality. More often than not, it has to do with something like tables or formatting or reading your book with a black background. Tables are something that's a little newer, and some of the older devices have trouble supporting that. You'll see some e-books will use an image instead of the actual formal table command in order to organize the information. Reading on black backgrounds is a relatively new issue.
