Welcome to Monday Productivity Pointers. I'm Jess Stratton. In the last video, I showed you how to install all your favorite indispensable PC apps all in one go using a website called Ninite.com. Well, in this video, I'm going to show all the Mac users out there how to do the same thing this time using the site called getmacapps. I'm on the website, it's simply getmacapps.com. Now you'll notice that it works almost exactly like ninite.
Here's our list. The first thing that we have to do is pick the apps that we want, in this case I'm going to pick some simple ones like Evernote and Skype. But you can go down and check off as many as you want. They pick all the apps that a lot a people who have Macs, like to install on every computer. As you can see, it's quite a good list here. So once we're all done, place check boxes beside everything that you want to install, and then click, install these. Now the neat thing about Get Mac Apps is it walks you through the entire process.
It tells you what applications you're going to install, an it gives you the code an it tells you how to do it. Even on the left-hand side here's the instructions. So the first thing that we need to do is copy this code because we're going to paste it into Terminal. So I'm going to right-click and copy or you can hit Cmd+C on your keyboard. Next I'm going to hit Cmd+Space on my keyboard and now I'm going to type terminal. Hit enter and that brings up the terminal app. Now, I'm going to hit Cmd+V on my keyboard to paste in that command line that we just coped in the getmacapp's website and now I'm just going to hit return on the keyboard.
Here's where the apps start downloading and the great thing about this is it's always going to be the most current version of the app. So you don't have to go out to every single website and pluck down all these apps. This will do it for you. So, as you can see, it downloads fairly quickly. It's going to let us know when it's all done and once everything is downloaded and installed, I'll show you what to do from there. It looks like everything's all done. Now the key here you can see that Skype installed and unmounted itself as did Evernote.
So now I'm free to close these out and now I'm going to hit Cmd+Space again and this time I'm going to type Evernote and there it is. So you can see that this was so quick to install, all the apps that I wanted, and I didn't even have to do anything. Now that is a completely free website. GetMacApps.com to quickly install all your favorite apps on any new Mac that you get.
