Hi there, this is Jess with Monday Productivity Pointers, and this week we're talking about Etsy. Etsy makes it as easy as possible for you, to run a smooth shop so that you can work on creating the best handmade items that you can. But they also take it one step further, an offer something called Shop Stats, which is all the statistics that you could possibly need, to see how your shop is doing, and to make it successful. I'm going to show you how to interpret those shop stats. But there's one thing I want you to keep in mind while we're doing this. I personally think that show a product isn't doing well, is far better than those that show that a product is doing well, because I can see which products need to be improved.
I'll know that sometimes it takes just a simple change of a product description or a tag, to help that product do better and be more successful. But enough talking, lets dive right into the shop stats. To get to Shop Stats, go into your shop, and from the Drop down Menu choose Shot Stats. Here's where it brings me to the statistics page. The very first thing I need to do is choose what kind of time period I want to look at all my statistics for. I can come up here, and choose from a drop down menu of all sorts of choices, such as, the last week, the last 30 days, even the last year.
So immediately I can tell, very quickly, how many views my shop got, how many people favorited my shop How many orders were placed and what my revenue was during my time period that I've selected up here from my shop. I can then come down here and see a handy list of graphs that I can choose from. Here's a very quick overview of my revenue. I can see from the green icon over here, I had one new listing that day. When I go over to Views, I have two options. I can see how many views my actual shop got, and I can see how many views my individual listings got for my items.
Scrolling further down, here is where I can see how people found my shop. Now there's two columns. The one on the left, is going to tell me all my traffic sources. For example, Facebook or any other external links. Direct traffic means that people didn't actually click on a link to get to my site. They either came from email, or typed it into the URL field. Now because it has a question mark next to it, that means I can hover my mouse over it to find out what that means. Traffic sources on Etsy, is all the places that I got traffic that came directly from Etsy.
I can click and see what my stats were for all these products, during that time period. To go back to Shop Stats, I'm going to click on this Back to Shop Stats Overview. I can then go down and even see what types of keywords people were putting into Google to find my shop. The results here may be startling. An it can also tell you if you need to change things like, make your site a little bit more descriptive, or put some better tag listings in your products. Finally, I can actually come down here an see which listings were actually viewed during that time period.
I can even go in to each listing, and see the unique stats for those products, such as, which ones sold. It tells me how many views they got right here on the right-hand side. I personally think that statistics that show that a product isn't doing well, is much more productive than to show which products are doing well. Clearly the ones that are doing well, are getting much more views than some that aren't. This is valuable to me. This tells me that I need to play around with the ones that aren't doing well, maybe change their descriptions or maybe the pictures aren't that enticing. Maybe I need to swap photos.
With these shop stats, you can find out everything you need to be a better shop keeper. So that's a quick tour of Etsy shop stats and why it should be a integral part of your shopkeeping day.
